Moonstone Society Newsletter

It's the Moonstone Society! It's named after my favorite stone I use in my work of course. I really wanted to share what is inspiring me, what's going on in life that is influencing my art, and all the behind the scenes that might have to do with jewelry, or it might not!

When I was a kid I was always trying to start secret clubs and zines, and craft potions, so I'm hoping it will feel like that!

There will also be extras that you get for being part of the Moonstone Society, like access to pop up events I'm hosting, first dibs on new collections, and knowing first about classes I'm teaching. That's why I'm calling it a "society", because there's an in-person real life part of it.

Sketchbook Inspiration

I started a project with my partner where we trade a sketchbook back and forth. I'll draw and he writes. The original seed was the virgin Mary. We are both interested in her, but we have different perspectives, so the sketchbook is a way to collaborate instead of debate. We are just doing it for fun, but I've been surprised how much the doodles are influencing my work.

These earrings with blue opal and mother of pearl came directly from the sketch above. I was thinking about gothic arches as a way to denote sacredness. And I'm playing with how to bring nature and ancient religious elements together into jewelry. Like, why do they have to be so separate?

I have been playing around with gold in my sketchbook, and also using more 14k gold in my work!

Here's one of my recent experiments in solid gold with moss agate. Keep an eye out for more gold work coming soon, and I'd love to hear what stones you'd love to see with gold!

Luna Gallery in all her glory

Luna Gallery is up and running. I run it together with three artist friends. If you don't remember, we opened in February, in a wild turn of events after my last studio was completely ruined in Hurricane Helene. Last fall was full of so much loss and grief, but opening Luna has felt like coming back to life.

If you haven't been by yet, I hope you do, because it's constantly evolving, and feels like a giant art project in itself. Like, last week Kristy hand dyed these lanterns and we decorated with them. I'm hoping to share more about each artist in upcoming moonstone society letters.

Come visit us at 20 Artful Way in the River Arts District. We are the ones who are chronic overdecorators and have flowers, planters, lights and painting all over our front window.

In just a few weeks. June 14 we are having a pop up event at the Gallery, an upcycle day! Kristy is bringing a vat of indigo, and Dayna will have patches to sew on. We are hoping you will bring your old clothes that need a revamp and turn them into incredible art pieces. I'll post about it more soon, but you guys are the first to know!
